Read a poem a day!
Step into the enigmatic world of "3 AM Poems From the Other Mind," a poetry collection that defies the boundaries of comfort and dares to plunge you into the depths of thought and emotion. These poems, crafted in the hushed moments between midnight and dawn, are not for the faint of heart but for those seeking a poetic journey that will leave them breathless and transformed.
Like Allen Ginsberg's iconic "Howl," the verses within "3 AM" are unapologetically raw, provocative, and thought-provoking. They awaken the senses and ignite the mind, offering an experience that is both disquieting and electrifying. In the spirit of Robert Frost's definition of poetry as the moment when emotion finds its thought and thought finds words, this collection delves deep into the well of human sentiment, unearthing profound and sometimes uncomfortable truths.
The witching hours are a time when the ordinary turns extraordinary, and these poems are no exception. They will transport you through the labyrinth of the subconscious, challenging your perspective and shaking you out of your comfort zone. Just as the cat on your lap may be startled by the sudden burst of energy in the room, you too will find yourself flying around the room of your own emotions, landing in a different perspective, forever changed.
"3 AM Poems From the Other Mind" is an invitation to embrace the mysterious, to wander through the uncharted territory of the human soul, and to confront the raw power of words that resonate with the darkest and most brilliant corners of the human experience. This collection is for those who seek not only comfort but also the exhilaration of poetic exploration that lingers long after the final page is turned.
Excerpts:
The Man in The Moon 1
Who's up at 2 am?
The midnight oil has long burned out
Sleep and sex roll restless
On the worn mattress.
Dreams escape the open eyes
Shadows rattle the door
Three o'clock is the witching hour
Red ashes float from the patio
Eyes across the courtyard catch you breathing.
You look away only to look again.
You know the lonely mattress would enjoy the company
And your lilac-scented air could use some funk.
But the night won't last a lifetime, so
You slip back into your room and wonder,
What if there is a man in the moon?
A Good Dog
The neighbor beats his dog at 3am
and he don't stop
I hear her tail beating the wall
and he don't stop
She gnaws on his bone
and he don't stop
All night long she whines
and he don't stop
Her collar and chain drags the floor
and he don't stop
She begs at the table
and he don't stop
She rolls over and plays dead
and he don't stop
She fetches his slippers
and he don't stop
She trees his birds
and he don't stop
She has his puppies
and he don't stop
All in the wee hours I hear
bitch bitch bitch
and he don't stop.
